The Complete Racing Guide shares the comments of some of the winners on the 10-race programme at Caymanas Park last Saturday.
Trained by Steven Todd and ridden by Jemar Jackson, Dinner By Seven won the first race over 1,100 metres. Todd said: “It was a good performance by Dinner By Seven. The plan was to go in front and stay in front, and that was what happened.”
Stir It Up, trained by Oneil Markland and ridden by Renardo McNaughton, won the second race over 1,600 metres. Markland said: “It was an exceptional performance by Stir It Up because she was laid off from April as she was bitten by an insect, and so I had to [treat] her and take my time to get her ready [to go] back to the races. She did about four workouts with the last being 1:28.2 minutes for 1,400 metres and she showed me that she did it on her bridle and in the shape to race. She had this class beaten long time.”
The Gary Subratie-trainedZackontheattack, under Aaron Chatrie, won the third race over 1,400 metres. Chatrie said: “This horse is very fit and he has the [measure] of this field…he is much better than these. I rode and won on him many times, so I knew exactly what do and when to do it.”
Dreamliner, under Omar Walker, won the seventh race over 1,000 metres straight. After the race trainer Wayne DaCosta said: “It was good performance. I mean when you win a race it is always good. The track is still on the fast side and there was no breeze blowing against them, hence the final time of 57.1 seconds. But all in all, it was a good performance.”
Wesley Henry, who rode Another Fury to victory in the 10th and final race over 1,300 metres, said: “She worked well coming into race and so I fancied my chances. We got a good break and eventually drew clear from the field turning for home to win comfortably.”
