Steven Todd having his best season yet
Steven Todd is enjoying his best season in the five years he has been officially training horses at Caymanas Park.
Victory for Dinner By Seven last Saturday in the opening event over 1,100 metres saw Todd taking his tally for the season to 19 winners.
“It was a good performance by Dinner By Seven. She ran really well to win, and to finish in 1:06.3 minutes is also wonderful.
“Dinner By Seven is a horse that has been troubled with some problems and so it was a matter of when she will put it together… and she did that last Saturday,” Todd said.
Based on winners, Todd lies fourth behind Wayne DaCosta (51 winners), Anthony Nunes (34 winners) and Gary Subratie (22 winners). In stakes earnings, Todd is seventh.
“Yes, definitely this season is the best season that I ever had since I began training horses. I haven’t been doing anything really differently of late. I am just putting in the necessary work and hoping for the results to come in our favour,” Todd told the
Complete Racing Guide.
Todd knows very well that success only comes with hard work.
“To win races, it takes a lot of hard work and dedication, and that is what we are doing. Last season we set a goal of winning 15 races, but we came up short, winning 14 races.
“This season we have set a target of 25 winners and we are hoping that we can achieve that goal; we are working towards it. We have started well this season and I just want to continue,” he said.
Dreamcometrue has been the star in Todd’s barn this season, winning four races from 15 starts, including a victory overMom’s Student, Force De Jour and Brawn in the Open Allowance Betting Gaming and Lotteries Commission Trophy over 1,100 metres on August 1.
“She (Dreamcometrue) has won the most races for me this season, and she is also the best horse that I have trained so far in my career. Ability-wise, Dreamcometrue is far superior to the other horses that I have in the stable. She is easy to train and she always gives her best each time she races and she is consistent as well,” Todd noted.
