Cops recover stolen firearm in Portland
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The police have reported that two men were yesterday arrested in separate gun finds in Kingston and St James. The lawmen also said a third gun was found in Portland but no one was arrested in that incident.
The first man was arrested about 4:45 pm in Kingston.
Reports are that a team of officers was on foot patrol in the area when the man ran upon seeing them. He was pursued, accosted and searched along with his dwelling house on Rum Lane in Kingston. A 9mm Pistol and a magazine containing twelve 9mm cartridges were reportedly found in a sock beneath a box in the house.
He was subsequently arrested, however his identity is being withheld pending further investigations.
The second man was arrested during a police operation in St James, which was conducted between 5:30 pm and 7:00 pm. The police reportedly searched a premises he occupied in Bobman Hill, Lilliput and found a Browning pistol and a 9mm cartridge.
Earlier, police officers in Portland recovered a Smith and Wesson pistol, which they said was reported stolen from a licensed firearm holder.
Reports are that between 6:00 am and 7:00 am, a premises was searched and the firearm was found in a black bag hidden in bushes. No arrests were made.
