Dane Ray the ‘top jockey’ in Latin America
Singer Dane Ray says he completed a fruitful tour of Central and South America where he promoted his latest songs Top Jockey and Punununu.
He spent five weeks (August 10-September 15) in those regions, performing in Colombia, Panama, Chile and Colon, an island off the coast of Panama.
“I did eight shows in all, mostly club venues, and one show was actually on a beach. I got a great reception from the fans who knew
Top Jockey; I won over a lot of new fans,” said Dane Ray.
A video for Punununu, filmed in Chile, will be released this month.
The St Ann-born artiste, whose real name is Waldane Hampton, has followed up with Dolla Dolla produced by Charm B Productions out of New York.
Dane Ray was known in music circles as a producer. In 2015, he had a hit with Charly Black’s Jamaican Every Day.
The Latin America region is a growing market for dancehall/reggae. A number of dancehall acts, including Sean Paul, Mr Vegas and Anthony B, have done well there in recent years.
