PM says Gov’t still working on crime strategy
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Prime Minister Andrew Holness says the Government is still working on a crime strategy with the National Security Council.
Holness was among Cabinet members who were this morning updated by Commissioner of Police, Dr Carl Williams on the country’s crime situation.
The update, according to a release from the Office of the Prime Minister, follows several incidents of murders at the weekend, which includes the killing of five people – including three children – in March Pen, Spanish Town in St Catherine.

The government is now even more resolved to dismantle the gangs and bring those responsible to Justice,” he added.
He later told bankers at an Anti Money Laundering/Country Financing of Terrorism forum that “We must take the profit out of crime. Criminals must have no access to the financial system. And where they operate in the informal economy and in the back waters of our country, we must find them and separate them from their illegal gains”.
In the meantime, Holness called on Jamaicans to tell what they know to the security forces to help rid the country of criminal elements.
