Vendors appeal for help after fire destroys stalls
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Fire of unknown origin on Friday destroyed several stalls at a section of West Street in downtown Kingston, known as “Rae Rae” ground.
According to vendors, the fire started in the wee hours of the morning.
“Mi get a call after four this morning seh the place burn down,” Terry-Ann Campbell told OBSERVER ONLINE.
The vendors, who were seen cleaning up the area on Friday, appealed to Mayor of Kingston Angela Brown Burke as well as the private sector to assist them in getting back on their feet.
“We not asking for much, we know the mayor have links weh she can get some palettes fi we. If is even two trucks load a palettes,” a woman who gave her name as Melody said.
