Jamaican entertainers will have Haiti on their minds when they gather at Jacob’s Place, King’s Plaza, this evening for the Bongo Herman and Friends charity event.

Patrons are being asked to take as much food (canned products) and clothing to the venue. The items will be donated through Food For The Poor to relief organisations in Haiti which was severely damaged by Hurricane Matthew early this month.

Over 1,300 people were killed in that country as a result of Matthew’s powerful onslaught. The hurricane also caused extensive damage in Colombia, The Bahamas, Cuba, as well as Florida and North Carolina.

Veteran percussionist Bongo Herman is leading this evening’s initiative along with the Jamaica Association of Vintage Artistes and Affiliates.

“Wi want everyone fi bring a tin a food an’ some good clothes for our brothers an’ sisters inna Haiti. Is jus’ one love,” said Bongo Herman.

Some of the acts confirmed to perform this evening are Capleton, Hugh Brown, Boris Gardiner, Isha Bel, Singing Vernon, Junior Sinclair and Ras Michael Jnr.
