Lybran delivers his Rum Talk
After several years in the music industry, singjay Lybran said he is certain of his breakthrough with his latest single Rum Talk.
“The song is a kind of paradoxical track that is fun but serious. The information is in a serious and factual way, but how the song is delivered is humorous in its own unique style,” he said.
Released on iTunes on Friday, Lybran said the song has been making steady rounds in the clubs and dancehall sessions
“I did two series of the song, Part 1 & 2 with the first one throwing words at a number of artistes including Mavado and Tommy Lee Sparta. This one addresses Hurricane Matthew, the violence in MoBay along other pressing issues,” he said.
Rum Talk was produced by local-based Deanno Dean Records.
Lybran said he hopes the single will open doors to tours and deals from corporate Jamaica.
“After several years walking in the streets selling my own CDs, gathering fans and keeping focus on my career, the hard work seems to be paying off for me as Part 1 is doing great and Part 2 is destined to be a hit,” he said.
Lybran, whose real name is Lamon Cousins, hails from the parish of St Thomas. He, however, grew up in Waterhouse in Kingston and spends a few years in Manchester, which helped to mould his direction in the business.
The 31-year-old is known for songs like Di Way Yuh Whine, Nowadays and Sexy Body, a collaboration with Chico.
The singjay is currently working on two EPs slated to be released later this year.
