Strong earthquake rattles Caribbean countries
PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad (CMC) – An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.5 rocked several islands on Tuesday evening but there were no immediate reports of injuries or death, the Trinidad-based Seismic Research Centre (SRC) of the University of the West Indies (UWI) reported.
It said that the quake was located eight kilometres south-west of Dominica and was also felt in the French Caribbean islands of Martinique and Guadeloupe.
The SRC said that the quake occurred at 6.08 pm (local time) and residents in St Lucia and Antigua and Barbuda also claimed to have felt the tremor.
