‘Cawfee Tea’ brews help for children
It’s rare for reggae artistes, diplomats and legal luminaries to attend the same function, but that was the case on October 29 when a diverse audience showed up for ‘Cawfee Tea’.
The event, which took place at Harmony Farm Gardens in St Andrew, raised funds for children and small coffee farmers affected by May 2015 fires in the Blue Mountains.
According to organiser Joan Webley, “The diverse audience uni?ed in a shared concern for their fellow man.”
That audience included reggae artistes Nadine Sutherland, Chronixx and Kelissa; Subbalakshmi Mohani of the Indian High Commission; Taka Oshikiri and Tetsuri Onishi representing the Japanese Embassy; and attorney Churchill Neita.
Companies contributing to the fund were: Jackson’s Service Station, Gleaner Company Ltd, Cafe Blue, Grace, Jamaica Teas, Tops Tea, Garco Ltd, and Iyashi Herbs.
Webley expects Cawfee Tea to be annual.
