KC defend Under-16 ISSA cricket title

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Kingston College (KC) successfully defended its Under-16 ISSA Cricket crown after defeating St Jago by 58 runs at Chedwin Park on Thursday.

KC owed its triumph to an outstanding bowling display from Rajae McGeachy, who captured 7 for 26 and hit 28 runs.

KC won the toss and decided to bat and made 135

from 47.4 overs as opener, McGeachy top scored with 28, hitting three fours from 33 balls while Ajani Bond batting at number seven made 18, hitting three fours.

Kyrie Rhone hit 15 runs and Dominic Hinds took four for 21 from his 10.4 overs.

St Jago, chasing 136 for victory, were skittled out for 77 with Wayne Plummer batting at number four, making a game-high 33 runs from 56 balls with four fours and one six.

Once he was bowled by McGeachy, however, the inning folded.

McHeachy had taken a hat-trick bowling Rajiv Bacchus for one at 35 for 4 and with his next two balls bowled Winaldo Faulknor and Naquane Johnson for zeros at 35-6.

Plummer was the eighth man out at 77.

McGeachy continued his great bowling, wrapping up the inning when he had Rajani Hinds lbw for nought and bowled Caja Burnett also for nought as the inning folded at 77.
