MBBC clip Wadadah for winning start
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Montego Bay Boys Club (MBBC) got their Jamaica Football Federation’s Western Confederation Charlie’s JB Rum Super League off to a winning start after beating former champions Wadadah FC 2-1 in their St James derby at Jarrett Park on Tuesday.
Goals from Roshane Reid and Ronaldo Thompson gave MBBC their first-ever win over Wadadah FC in the Super League and a share of the lead in Zone Two with Petersfield FC who beat Holland United 1-0, and Sandals South Coast who beat Faulkland FC on Sunday’s opening day.
Beaches Negril and Reggae Youths played out a 2-2 draw at Long Bay Beach Park, also Tuesday.
At Jarrett Park, Reid gave MBBC the lead in the 12th minute before Kymani Russell levelled the scores on the stroke of half time.
Thompson, however, got the better of the Wadadah FC defence in the 72nd minute and fired his team into the lead as they held on for full points.
At Petersfield, Romario Whyte’s 39th-minute goal was enough for the home team to beat Holland, who were returning to the league after a one-year break.
At the Long Bay Beach Park in Negril, Beaches Negril took an early lead, but were pegged back 1-2 by the Reggae Youths before rallying late to salvage a point.
Kemar Dawkins gave Beaches Negril the lead after 10 minutes, but Oshane Thompson scored a double in the 24th and 42nd minutes, and they held on until the 90th minute when Dexter Haughton scored to give the home team the draw.
