NCB customers can now open accounts online
National Commercial Bank Jamaica Limited (NCB) has introduced a digital solution which allows existing customers to open savings and current accounts online.
Following the introduction of NCB’s Bank on the Go service, Chief Digital and Marketing Officer Nadeen Matthews said the bank recognised that there was high demand for alternatives that could help customers avoid long lines and fees.
“The primary objective is to enhance the customer experience. Prior to this the customer had to visit the branch, pay taxi or bus fare and take time out from work. They would then wait in line and the account opening process itself would take around 30 minutes once the customer got to the front of the line,” Matthew told the Jamaica Observer.
“This could take up to an hour in total plus the cost of visiting the branch,” she continued.
With the new platform, existing customers whose documentation is up to date, can complete the process in about three minutes via the online banking platform without visiting the branch.
“This platform signifies our ongoing efforts to provide our customers with options that fit into their lifestyle. Think along the lines of NCB bringing an Amazon experience to financial services, where banking is available anytime, anywhere,” she said.
According to NCB, the upgrade was recently approved by the Bank of Jamaica and represents a first for the local banking and finance industry, offering added convenience while improving customer satisfaction.
Existing customers whose documentation is up to date can open a new account via NCB’s Online Banking. Alternately, the bank noted that new customers or existing customers whose documentation is not up-to-date can go to the NCB home page and click on the “Open An Account” tab to start the process.
However, these customers will still need to visit a branch to complete all verification checks but can expect to spend significantly less time waiting in line.
