Party promoters to produce receipt for meat
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The police have advised that event promoters will be required to produce a valid receipt, proof of purchase or intended purchase for goat, pig and cattle meats being sold at their events.
The requirement follows a significant spike in the larceny of goats and pigs across the island over the past two weeks, the Jamaica Constabulary Force said in a statement late Tuesday.
“As a matter of urgency, any application for dance or party permits where goat, pig and cattle meats will be sold, the promoter MUST produce a valid receipt, proof of purchase or intended purchase,” the statement said.
It warned that police officers will be visiting events and enquiring about the source of meats being sold.
“Party promoters and event organisers are expected to adhere to the advisory as those who fail to meet the requirement of the law will be prosecuted,” the JCF added.
