Jah Max back with Smooth Sailing
THREE years after its release, Jah Max is amping up promotion of the track Smooth Sailing, with hopes of it getting the recognition it truly deserves.
Produced by Dan Giovanni from Isaiah Music Inc, the singjay said the song is about spreading positive messages throughout the universe.
“At a time when Jamaica, especially the western end, is blanketed by violence, the song is timely as unity and love is what we really need. I really hope that this track will hit the Billboard…and continue to grow on the sales around the world,” he told
Jamaica Observer.
Jah Max (given name Paul Wedderburn) grew up in the tough inner-city community of Arnett Gardens in Kingston. He said he got involved in music at an early age as he was encouraged by family and friends.
After completing studies at Bridgeport High School in Portmore, St Catherine, he release his debut single Haven’t I Told You Girl in 2005. Despite it not getting the rotation it deserved, he said he was undeterred.
In 2012, at 24, he migrated to the United States with music on his mind.
“There I realised that doing reggae music overseas is kind of challenging with the roots being in Jamaica, where it originated. But with the right team and promotion, I will surely get to top of the game,” he said.
In addition to promoting Smooth Sailing, the singjay is also preparing to release his EP The Revolutionist Is Here in May. This will be followed by his debut album, Natural Mystic in July.
His other singles include One Spliff A Day and Loyal And Faithful.
