Milestone/ Timeline

Friday, February 9, 1996: Opened its doors at 51 Hope Road as ‘Friends of The Deck’

October, 1996: First Live Music Show with Ernie Smith

1997 – 1998: Hosted Reggae Boyz with Rene Simoes on many occasions

November, 1998: Deck Personality Selectors Spin-off, first winner was Mr. John Hunter

October 1999: First Family Fun Day at Lydford Farms – ‘Friends on The Farm’

October 2001: Placed 2nd – Appleton Vintage Spin-off, Deck represented by Mrs. Caitlin Young

2000 – 2001: Opened ‘Friends in The Place’ at The Market Place on Constant Spring Road.

August, 2001: Independence Celebration in New Kingston – Replicated ‘The Deck’ on Knutsford Boulevard complete with decking, netting, bar and music by The Deck Selectors.

July, 2002: Relocated to 14 Trafalgar Road

May, 2003: Nominee (1st of 3) for Jamaica Observers Food Award – “Coolest Watering Hole”

August, 2003: Beginning of ‘Live Thursdays’ – Weekly live musical performances with Errol Lee, Dwight Pinkney and Mickey Hanson showcasing Jamaica’s greatest musical talents – 2 year run.

July 2007: First Hosting of Miss Jamaica World Contestants – Winner – Yendi Phillips

June 2008: Hosted – ‘Home Coming Lyme’ for 3rd Bi-annual Diaspora Delegation

March, 2010: Beginning of Merritone First Sundays on The Deck……. continues today.
