Opposition objects to cancellation of Junction Road repair
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Opposition Spokesman for Works, Richard Azan says he is concerned that the Government has cancelled a road rehabilitation project for Aqualta Vale to Broadgate, which forms part of the Junction Road in St Mary.
In a People’s National Party (PNP) release, Azan said Cabinet gave approval for the project during the last quarter of financial year 2015/2016 for an amount in excess of $500 million.
The Opposition spokesman called on the Government to state whether it defaulted on the loan, and urged them to consider that motorists who use the roadway, commuters and residents of St Mary are complaining about its state of disrepair.
Azan further asked the Government to allocate resources to undertake what he says are “urgently needed repairs” to a section of the corridor between Aqualta Vale and Broadgate that was damaged by recent rains.
