Eight years of courtship culminated on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at the Montego Bay Convention Centre when graphic designer and video editor Jannae Campbell and infrastructure development project manager Travis Richards were joined in holy matrimony.

How they met…The two were tweens when they met at a surprise birthday party for Jannae’s mother. Travis, who was visiting from Canada and had just arrived that day, was accompanying a family friend. They both recall playing hide and seek.Their relationship over the years…The friendship continued on and off, but whenever Travis came to Jamaica for vacation — almost every summer — they would reconnect. Indeed, their entire relationship remained a long-distance one, even while they were engaged. The interesting part of their courtship was the travelling. Jannae was in New York for school and Travis was living in Toronto. It wasn’t easy for them, but they remained committed to each other and pulled out all the stops — plane rides, trains and buses — just to see each other. Our first date, as told by Jannae“Our first real date didn’t happen until we were in college. Being in a long-distance relationship we didn’t really get to go on an actual date until we had the means to travel, which was during our college years. It was Valentine’s Day 2006 and we went to Cheesecake Factory. The wait was long, so we left and went to Red Lobster, where we had a fun night.”The proposal…“On January 7, 2016, Travis proposed to me at my parents’ house where we first met,” explained Jannae.“The house was in the process of being refurbished for renting, and they brought me there under the pretence that it would be my last opportunity to see the house before it was rented. When I got there and walked in I saw Travis on one knee with rose petals everywhere.”The ceremony The exchange of vows took place at the Montego Bay Convention Centre. “Shades of blush and gold were used to enhance the vintage romance theme of our wedding,” shared Jannae. Indeed, the aisle leading to the altar featured gold tree branches. Wearing romantic blush dresses designed by Watters Bridal, the gorgeous bridesmaids made their way up the aisle to Major’sAs the music filled the room, the bride, stunning in a gown with a fully beaded bodice and ball skirt from Eddy K Bridal, proceeded up the aisle to her groom. In her hands she clutched a bouquet of white roses. She was escorted by her parents Hyacinth and Owen Campbell.The proceedings were officiated by Bishop Lascelles Allen and Winston Leith.The ReceptionThe reception was held at the same location. The bridal party made their entrance to The Weeknd’sThe evening continued with the unveiling of the four-tiered chocolate cake from The Cake Studio and a hearty reception dinner complete with an array of desserts catered by Executive Chef Randie Anderson and his team at the Montego Bay Convention Centre. As the music filled the room, the bride, stunning in a gown with a fully beaded bodice and ball skirt from Eddy K Bridal, proceeded up the aisle to her groom. In her hands she clutched a bouquet of white roses. She was escorted by her parents Hyacinth and Owen Campbell.

The Reception

Starboy, followed by the newly-weds who made their entrance to Beres Hammond’sWhat One Dance Can Do.
