GC Foster Classics: St Jago’s Wilson tops boys’ U-20 high jump
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Lushane Wilson of St Jago High copped the first gold medal of the day in a Grand Prix discipline, after he topped the boys’ Under-20 high jump at the finale of the Digicel Grand Prix Athletics Championships and GC Foster Classics underway at the National Stadium.
Wilson cleared the bar at a new personal best and Grand Prix record-equalling 2.18 metres, bettering his previous personal best mark of 2.15 metres.
He won ahead of Kobe Jordan Rhooms (2.05m) of Cornwall College with Calabar’s Ricardo Clarke (2.04m) taking third.
Wilson, an IAAF World Youth Championships and Commonwealth Youth Games finalist, is among the favourites for event at the upcoming ISSA Boys’ and Girls’ Athletic Championships.
