Sasha mines gold, platinum with Zara Larsson’s sample of ‘Dat Sexy Body’
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Gospel singer Sasha is set to collect gold and platinum plaques thanks to recent certifications of the song I Would Like by Swedish teen pop singer Zara Larsson.I Would Like, which samples Sasha’s dancehall recording Dat Sexy Body, has been certified gold in Denmark (30.000 copies), gold in New Zealand (15,000), gold in Poland (10,000) and gold in the United Kingdom (400,000).I Would Like was released last November by Sony Music Entertainment.Dat Sexy Body was released in 1998 and featured on producer Tony ‘CD’ Kelly’s Bookshelf riddim. Five years later, in 2003, it reached number 78 on the Billboard R&B Hip Hop Songs chart and number 31 in France.
It has been certified platinum in Australia (70,000) and platinum in Sweden (40,000).
On the singles charts globally, I Would Like peaked at number 16 in Australia, number one in Belgium, number 23 in Denmark, number 56 in Germany, number 7 in Ireland, number 16 in Lebanon, number 28 in the Netherlands, number 19 in New Zealand, number 3 in Scotland, number 4 in Sweden, number 2 in the United Kingdom, number 36 in Poland, and number 48 on the Billboard Digital Songs chart in the US.
