Cham returns with
Cham (formerly Baby Cham) is anticipating another hit from his latest single Money Wine. Released earlier this month, the track is taken from the deejay’s forthcoming album Lawless.
“It is a fun song directed to the females. It is about that wine that a female uses to get her partner ‘up and running’,” he said between chuckle.
After two delays, Cham’s third studio album Lawless is expected to be released in May. The 14-track set was first slated to be released in June 2015 but was then pushed back to October of last year.
Cham the deejay explained the reason for the delay.
“It is ready now, but it just wasn’t ready then. These type of things are natural within the industry. A lot of times there are some behind- the-scene glitches that cause the release date to be pushed back. The momentum just wasn’t right and we could not release it until we get things right,” he told
Jamaica Observer.
Lawless is produced by hit-maker Dave Kelly.
In addition to
Money Wine, Cham is promoting several other singles including a collaboration with Damian Marley calledFighter.
Cham (given name Damian Beckett) first emerged on the dancehall scene in the mid-1990s, making tracks on juggling rhythms including the Showtime Riddim which spawned his hit
Galang Gal. By 2000, he gave the world his debut albumWow: The Story, and hits such asMany Many, Boom Tune, andMan & Man.
In 2006, his smash hit
Ghetto Story was remixed by American R&B act Alicia Keys. He has worked with a list of other international acts including Foxy Brown, MIA, Nina Sky, and Mario.
