ST CATHERINE, Jamaica — Four men were taken into custody after police intercepted a stolen motorcar in Portmore, St Catherine about 1:25 am today.

Reports from the police are that the vehicle, which was reportedly stolen during a murder in Manchester, was intercepted in the vicinity of a stoplight on the Newlands main road.

The vehicle was reportedly searched and a homemade firearm seized. The four male occupants of the vehicle were arrested.

Their identities are being withheld pending further investigations. 

In another Portmore incident, in the wee hours of this morning, police arrested a man and seized a Glock pistol and 14 9mm rounds of ammunition from him in Reids Pen.

Reports are that about 12:32 am, lawmen were on patrol in the area when on reaching a bar they called out to the man. 

He reportedly opened gunfire at them. The lawmen reportedly returned gunfire and the man was hit. He was taken to hospital where he is currently under police guard.

His identity is also being withheld.
