Peter Phillips sworn in as Opposition leader
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Dr Peter Phillips was this morning formally sworn in as the leader of the Parliamentary Opposition.
Phillips took the oath of office in the presence of Governor General Sir Patrick Allen at a ceremony held at King’s House moments ago.
The former finance minister, who replaced Portia Simpson Miller as president of the People’s National Party (PNP), became leader of the Opposition two Sundays ago at a special delegates’ conference held at the National Arena. He is the fifth president of the PNP.
