1. 11-y-o boy in custody for murder

An 11-year-old boy was today taken into police custody following yesterday’s murder of 14-year-old Orane Johnson in Lowe River, Wait-a-Bit, Trelawny.

2. Corned beef ban lifted

Minister of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries Karl Samuda this morning announced that the ban on the importation of corned beef from Brazil has been lifted.

3. Klansman leader Tesha Miller deported from Bahamas

Sources from The Bahamas today confirmed that reputed Klansman gang-leader Tesha Miller was sent back to Jamaica after news surfaced last Tuesday that Miller had been nabbed in the island.

4. Gov’t to set up $10-m trust for survivors of 1963 Coral Gardens incident

Prime Minister Andrew Holness today apologised to survivors of the 1963 Coral Gardens incident and announced that a trust fund of no less than $10 million will be established for them.

5. 15-y-o girl missing after leaving home for ‘Champs’

An Ananda Alert has been activated for 15-year-old Rasheeda Nation, otherwise called Ruth-Ann, of Fort Totten Drive in Garveymeade in Portmore, St Catherine, who has been missing since Saturday after she left home to attend the ISSA/ GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Championship at the National Stadium.

International media outlets are hailing Brianna Lyston of St Jago High School as the next Usain Bolt after her sterling performance at the just-concluded ISSA/ GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics Championships.

GraceKennedy Limited has announced that it is exploring steps to produce corned beef at its meat processing plant in Westmoreland.
