Heineken’s ‘Under the Cap’ winners over the moon
Excited doesn’t begin to describe how winners of Heineken’s under-the-cap (UTC) promotion are feeling.
That’s according to Michael Chang, one of the seven consumers who have each won for themselves an all-expense paid trip for two to the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League (UCL) in Europe.
“To say I’m excited is an understatement,” said Chang. “From I was young; I wanted to be able to visit Europe. Given this grand opportunity, I’m really so grateful.” Chang, who sells fruits and vegetables, says he plans to take Jane, his wife of 20 years with him on the trip.
Other winners include Tracy McKoy, Geraldine Glave, Francois McDonald, Richard Ramsay, Chrisann Murray and Aaron Coley.
In addition to air fare and UCL match tickets for two, each winner will get accommodation and spending money all courtesy of Heineken. The group gathered for a briefing with Heineken representatives at Triple Century recently, where they received details of their prize packages.
Set for May 3 and 10, the teams for the UCL semi-finals are still to be determined, which means the actual destinations are not known. But the seven Jamaican winners are excited to secure their seats, wherever those matches will be held.
“This is a once in a lifetime opportunity and I’m counting the days until we get on that plane and touchdown in Europe,” said McKoy.
The announcement of the winners comes one week after Heineken concluded the Jamaican leg of the UCL Trophy Tour.
“When we brought the trophy to Jamaica, we promised the country that they would be a part of the UCL experience and they truly embraced it,” said Suwannee Stewart, brand manager for Heineken.
“Now in addition to these seven winners to the semi-finals, we are sending three of our loyal customers to sit in the stands and watch some of the world’s greatest footballers compete.”
Describing the competition as part of an amazing year for Heineken, Stewart pointed to the fact that more Jamaicans could still win prizes.
“The grand prize draw has been done, but Heineken’s UTC promotion will continue until the end of June. Consumers can still enter to win UCL finals viewing parties, televisions, phone credit and cash,” said Stewart.
