KSAC employee fined $200K for corruption
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Fabian Cawley, a field officer, employed to the Kingston and St Andrew Corporation (KSAC) was recently fined $200,000 or 30 days in prison for breaching the Corruption Prevention Act.
Cawley was arrested in 2015, by detectives from the Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency (MOCA) during a ‘sting’ operation while collecting $200,000 from a contractor. It is alleged that during an inspection he conducted at a construction site, several irregularities were noticed.
He subsequently solicited $500,000 from the contractor to allow the construction to continue.
A report was subsequently made to MOCA resulting in Cawley being arrested and charged. The court ruling was made on March 4.
