Pork Store & More celebrates educators with special Teachers’ Day giveback

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Teachers at Jamaica House Basic School received a heartwarming surprise on Teachers’ Day as Pork Store & More by CB Foods hosted a special community giveback initiative to recognise educators for their contribution to shaping Jamaica’s future.

The appreciation event celebrated the role teachers play in nurturing and developing future leaders, professionals and entrepreneurs. During the pop-up initiative, educators were presented with Caribbean Passion smoked meat bundles featuring corned pork chub, streaky bacon, chorizo and jerk chicken sausages, along with Pork Store & More gift vouchers.

According to CB Foods, the initiative was designed to honour the dedication, patience and care teachers invest in their students daily while offering practical meal solutions to help make every day cooking easier for busy educators.

Many teachers expressed gratitude for the unexpected gesture, describing it as both meaningful and uplifting.

“It was a very generous and grand gesture, one that overwhelmed all of us,” Marsha-Lee Crawford, a K2 teacher at the school, was quoted as saying in a news release. “I have been a teacher here since January 2019, and this is the first initiative of this nature that I’ve experienced. We are usually gifted tokens from parents, but for Pork Store to treat us in this manner was truly special.”

Crawford also reflected on the broader importance of teachers within society.

“Teachers are very important to society because we make all other professions possible. As an early childhood educator, the experience has been a blessing as I help shape and mould young minds who will become tomorrow’s leaders,” she added.

Samantha Fisher, assistant brand manager at CB Foods, said the Teachers’ Day outreach formed part of the company’s commitment to recognising educators for the vital work they perform.

“Teachers are incredibly important to us. They play a critical role in shaping the future of Jamaica by building the foundation for our children’s growth and development. It’s not an easy job, and it’s one that deserves real recognition and appreciation. For us, it’s about finding simple but meaningful ways to give back to those who give so much every day,” Fisher said.

Fisher explained that Jamaica House Basic School was selected because of its longstanding relationship with CB Foods through community support initiatives, including Labour Day activities and product donations.

“It’s also located within the immediate community of our head office and Pork Store & More, making it a natural fit. We believe in supporting the communities in which we operate, and this school is an important part of that,” she noted.

Moiya Chin-Lyn, channel manager of retail experience at CB Foods, said the initiative was intended to ensure teachers felt appreciated and valued.

“Through this Teachers’ Day initiative, we wanted to show genuine appreciation for the commitment, patience and passion teachers give daily; while recognising the lasting impact they have on children, families and communities. Presenting the teachers, principal and vice principals with Caribbean Passion products and Pork Store & More gift vouchers was a meaningful way to create a moment of encouragement and gratitude,” Chin-Lyn said.

She added that the positive response from teachers underscored the importance of community-centred initiatives that acknowledge educators and their contributions.

“The teachers were very appreciative and warmly received the gesture. Their response reflected genuine gratitude, not only for the gifts themselves, but for the thoughtfulness behind the initiative.”

The Teachers’ Day initiative forms part of ongoing efforts by Pork Store & More by CB Foods to strengthen its connection with surrounding communities while celebrating individuals whose dedication continues to make a lasting impact.
