Groundbreaking for China-funded school tomorrow
ST ANDREW, Jamaica — Prime Minister Andrew Holness and Education Minister Ruel Reid will tomorrow attend a groundbreaking ceremony for the Tower Hill Infant School in Olympic Way, St Andrew.
The school is being constructed under the China-aided Project for Early Childhood Institutions through funding provided by the Government of the People’s Republic of China.
According to a ministry release, the Tower Hill institution is one of two to be built under the programme, along with the Morant Estate Infant School in Morant Bay, St Thomas.
The ministry said the schools will accommodate up to 200 children and include: classrooms, playing rooms, rooms for service, auxiliary rooms, outdoor corridors, outdoor playground and other important facilities.
The Chinese contractor, Hebei Construction Group Co Ltd, is responsible for the construction of the facilities, while the National Education Trust (NET) is the project manager.
Holness, along with Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Jamaica, Niu Qingbao will symbolically break ground for the construction of the schools.
