JDF, Sagicor sign MoU
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Insurance giants Sagicor Group Jamaica signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) to further solidify the relationship between the two entities today.
Sagicor has dedicated $18 million over three years (May 1, 2017 – April 30, 2020), with a $6 million commitment annually to support various JDF activities, focusing on education for the children of service members, through a scholarship fund; health and sports development for physical wellness, as well as social engagements.Speaking at the signing ceremony at the JDF Headquarters, Lieutenant Colonel Radgh Mason (Acting Colonel General Staff) lauded Sagicor for the great work they continue to do in the community and expressed how happy the JDF is for this partnership, as it will serve to enhance the lives of the service members and further cement the values the JDF places on the areas of focus in the MoU.“The signing of the agreement signals a greater relationship that I am sure will grow in the years to come. It includes all the elements that formulate the kind of camaraderie, discipline and ethos of the force. The matter of scholarships embraces the importance we put in family,” Mason said.“Sports is more than competition in the JDF, it binds us together, speaks to our fitness culture and helps prepare the soldiers for the call of duty. While, another excellent component is the investment in our clubs and messes which provides that environment where we mentor and teach all the various skills important to our military services and commitment to the nation.”Ingrid Card, Vice President of Sagicor’s Group Marketing shared the company’s unwavering commitment to the partnership, and its enthusiasm for this project.“Today’s signing of this MOU signals our commitment to strengthening and building on our existing relationship, even more so, as a dedicated corporate citizen we take our corporate social responsibility very seriously,” she said.
