Several Corporate Area traffic lights out, NWA urges caution

KINGSTON, Jamaica — The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising the public that some critical traffic lights in the Corporate Area are currently out of service.

According to communication and customer service manager at the NWA, Stephen Shaw, the agency is aware of malfunctioning traffic signals at the Spanish Town Road and Chesterfield Drive intersection, in the vicinity of the entrance to the Seaview community and also at Twin Gates Plaza, along Constant Spring Road.He says NWA’s technical team has identified the cause of the fault at both locations and is currently working to restore service.Shaw is urging motorists to exercise extreme caution when travelling along both Spanish Town Road and Constant Spring Road in the vicinity where the traffic signals are out of service. He is further reminding motorists who use especially Spanish Town Road that the affected intersection is a four-way crossing at which everyone must stop, once the traffic lights are not working.Shaw says that the NWA is working to have the necessary repairs effected in the shortest possible time and that the police have been notified of the situation and are assisting with traffic management in the affected areas.
