VIDEO: Stirring the Pot @ The Great House, The Tryall Club Tea is Served

As we get ready to celebrate two decades of excellence in food service, delivery and presentation, we are stepping out boldly and starting our countdown this year by encouraging all to take a long, hard look at our culinary landscape — how far we have come, and, naturally, the possibilities.

Our initial focus has been on our chefs, the master architects of our island’s intoxicating flavours who are charged to introduce our island fare to us and visitors to our shores. The Caribbean, with its fresh fruits and natural organic soil, is still not an in-demand destination for food. Why? Because we have not given it our all… Let’s do so now as we declare Jamaica the epicentre of food and generate a global buzz while we eat our way around our beloved country. Giving it our all means identifying a minimum of one restaurant each week and lending financial support. The Jamaica Observer Table Talk Food Awards committee leads by example, so from our Parish Gems to Stirring The Pot we ask you to join us, or start your own tour. Share your findings with us and, when we meet on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at the Formal Gardens of Devon House, let us all compare notes with the scores of the judges. The 2017 Stirring The Pot Tour is sponsored by Serge Island and iCool. It’s 4:00 pm and time for High Tea…The Great House of the exclusive Tryall Club was where tea was poured Thursday last. The impressive afternoon spread created by the property’s culinary team now under the guidance of Executive Chef Salvatore Cusimano and housed in the Paula Watkins Room (named for the interior designer whose signature is intricately woven throughout) certainly impressed our discerning team of judges with many already anticipating their return.Old world charm — where guests cosy up in chaise longue in intimate vignettes and select exotic teas from Mighty Leaf Tea Company, like chocolate mint truffle, Bombay chai, orchid oolong, organic vervana mint, organic jasmine mist and wild berry hibiscus and enjoy home-made lemonade and/or iced tea with dainty cucumber, smoked salmon and, according to our judge Josina Jackson, ‘absolutely ‘divine egg sandwiches’ — prevails, coupled with flawless service and unparalled views. The high tea etagere with visually appealing and equally delicious sweet treats, ranging from scones to crème brûleé, petit pots of lemon meringue pie, chocolate truffles, strawberry tarts and chocolate ganache, will satisfy your sweet craving in the most seductive way.Be warned, however, that getting up to leave is positively traumatic! Tea at The Tryall ClubSandy Bay, Hanover,is poured daily at 4:00 pmand is complimentary for Club guests. For reservations/ or special celebrations:contact the Events Department at956- 5660 Ext 4228
