MANDEVILLE, Manchester — Los Perfectos FC crowned themselves Manchester FA/Jamalco Division One champions by blanking Old England FC 3-0 in the final at the Brooks Park Oval in Mandeville on Sunday.

The former Premier League outfit took the silverware courtesy of a brace from Christopher Campbell in the 25th and 40th minutes and a single strike from Roy Dean in 87th.The champions earned their spot in the final after stopping Silent Hill FC 3-2 on aggregate in the semi-finals, while Old England turned back Plowden FC 7-4 to secure their berth.Through the preliminary stages, Los Perfectos topped the points standing with 13, one more than Old England.By virtue of qualifying for the final, both teams have gained promotion to the Manchester Major League for next season.Duane James, head coach of the Los Perfectos, while conceding that there is room for improvement, saluted the organisers for “a great job” in running the league.“The Manchester Football Association, despite the fact that there is always room for improvement, did a great job in administrating the Division One competition, and we look forward for an interesting and competitive Major League competition next season,” he said.Already James has set his sights on getting to the Premier League, but he knows it will be a difficult climb. As part of the club’s vision, there is the desire to set up an academy for youth players.“Getting to the Premier League is a process and we want to get there, but at the moment our real ambition is to start a football academy for the development of these talented young players who we want to excel at the national and international levels,” James noted.— Bev Melbourne
