CONSTABLE SHAWN STEPHENS — always courageous, always kind
Constable Shawn Stephens was born on September 18, 1990 and grew up in the quiet community of Free Hill, St Mary.
From his early years, Shawn portrayed leadership qualities and while a member of the Free Hill United Church he led the Love Christian Fellowship Ministry.Shawn enlisted in the Jamaica Constabulary Force on September 27, 2010 and delivered six years, five months and 22 days of committed, exemplary and courageous service. During his tenure, he served the Kingston Eastern Division in Area 4. Constable Stephens’ commendations for courage displayed in the line of duty and efficient and dedicated service to the people of Jamaica.He was a happy soul, he would never think ill of anyone – these were sentiments echoed by all who gave tributes. He was kind, always smiling. He was very active, loved his job and he did not know the word, ‘no.’Constable Stephens was said to have loved fast cars and was always blasting his music – he especially loved Marvia Providence’s songs.It is important to remember that law enforcement officers go to work each day prepared to give their lives to protect the lives of the citizens of Jamaica – Shawn was just that – a fighter, he never gave up.Cons Shawn Stephens passed away on March 21, 2017 at hospital.As his family, friends, colleagues and community members gathered on Saturday, May 6, 2017 to pay their respects, they were encouraged to honour his memory as a courageous and true professional, a trusted associate and friend.His colleagues were implored to never let his memory leave their midst; never let his spirit leave their hearts and to let his service be an inspiration to them all.
