T hree winners on debut, Arthur’s Dream, Earth Angel and Sweet Peppa go against each other in this year’s renewal of the Titania trophy tomorrow at Caymanas Park. The Titania is the feature race and will be run over five-and-a-half furlongs (1,100 metres). The race is confined to fillies only.

While a lot of attention will be placed on the mentioned trio, there are other horses among the eight that are entered who will garner much support.The

PRINCESS KATRIEL —Finally found the winning touch on last, but with a final time of 1:01.2 seconds for five furlongs round she is not expected to win this one. Might surprise, however, as she is growing in confidence. 

ARTHUR’S DREAM — Raced and won the first time of asking, showing class and fight when defeating

Tiz A Cat and

Killer Bee.

Arthur’s Dream (

Spacedout) comes into this trophy race well rested and well prepared and while still toting a feather is expected to have a good shot of making two from two. 

KILLER BEE — Won over the five-round course after tasting defeat from the hoofs of

Arthur’s Dream to win the Ricochet Trophy in the same time recorded by

Princess Katriel.

Killer Bee has been coming along nicely at exercise and could well take her revenge on

Arthur’s Dream. She certainly has the experience to do it, but it will be a hard task. 

LIGHTNING LILLY — Was a no-show in the 1000 Guineas on April 8 won by

She’s A Maneater.

Lightning Lily returned to competitive racing on April 29 and, with all things considered, did not too badly when finishing sixth, eight-and -a-half lengths behind winner

Secret Traveller. Now with her trainer has deciding to take off the cheek pieces,

Lighting Lily, as one of the senior fillies in this race has every chance of winning. 

EARTH ANGEL — Won on debut as far back as January 21.

Earth Angel enters this race after a rest period of 119 days and might require a bit of time to feel the track before coming up with a winner. Her winning time of 59.4 seconds is nothing to scoff at, but maybe she might need the outing before a winning effort is afforded.

THORNHILL MISS — Has been present in all of the big races for fillies thus far this season without showing much.

Thornhill Miss did, however, show a glimpse of form when last at the track, when she finished fifth behind

Capturemyship,

Ictus and

Wong Don on Saturday last.

Thornhill Miss is fit, has the experience and will run well here. 

THUNDEREBLE — Has been making rounds, but it is difficult seeing a maiden beating winners. 

SWEET PEPPA – Ran out an easy winner on debut when beating

Simply Outrageous and

Aurelia’s Summer over the five furlong straight (1,000m) course on May 10. The winning time was an exciting 59.2 seconds.

Honeymoon Bay is another from the barn of trainer Richard Azan who has decided to take off the blinkers this time.

Sweet Peppa is primed to run. 

SELECTION – There is not much to choose from among the eight entered for the Titania. The choice is

Lighting Lily based on her last run and her experience, but really and truly, any number can play, especially from one of the first-time winners.
