AN OBVIOUS RAKE: Saturday was the Lotto Classic raceday when 117 horses were listed to run. There were five late non-starters on the programme, leaving a total of 112 horses which actually faced the starter. All the races on the day carried the Lotto name including the Lotto Juvenile Stakes, the Lotto Sprint Trophy and the Lotto Classic. All the signage, bunting, and other advertising made it quite obvious that it was the Lotto raceday. Now, of all the horses whiuch ran on Saturday, only one had a semblance of lotto in its name and that was Lottery Ticket. As fate would have it, Lottery Ticket won the fourth race, at very generous odds of 6-1. Think on these things!
