Lannaman’s Prep hoping to rebuild from talent show proceeds
Lannaman’s Preparatory School in St Andrew is staging its annual talent showcase this Sunday in an effort to raise funds to rebuild two years after a devastating fire.
The event, now in its 15th year, is scheduled for the Little Theatre in St Andrew at 5:00 pm and will feature performances from medallists in this year’s Festival of the Performing Arts, the school said in a news release. There will also be special guest artistes. The fire, which occurred in February 2015, had destroyed Lannaman’s Kindergarten and Nursery on West Lake Avenue in Richmond Park, putting a damper on the school’s 40th anniversary and pushing administrators into contingency mode. The facility, which cared for 28 children in the nursery, had already painted a four-lane running track and two hopscotch courses in preparation for sports day for its 68 kindergarten students when the fire spoiled those plans.Since then, the kindergarten and nursery have been housed at the junior school at 1 Terrence Avenue, Kingston 10.The school is making an appeal to the public and its past students in particular to support the event.
