Mello Vibes St Bess-bound
For the first time in its 16-year existence, the popular retro party series Mello Vibes will journey to a rural parish.
Tonight the event will be held at Pines Plaza in Junction, St Elizabeth. Presented by GLK Entertainment in association with Colbeck Jamaican Ginger Wine, Mello Vibes will feature music from the 1970s to the 1990s courtesy of disc jocks Colin Hines, Nico Supreme and DJ Skibbu.
Gyete Ghartey of GLK Entertainment explained the reason for taking the series outside of Kingston.
“For years patrons been requesting us do an event in St Elizabeth. Many of our patrons live between Clarendon, Mandeville and St Elizabeth, and we’ve gotten feedback that they want us to bring the party closer to them,” Ghartey told Jamaica Observer.
Mello Vibes has been held three times annually in Kingston since its inception in 2001. The series has travelled overseas with staging in the Cayman Islands and New York.
Ghartey explained what patrons can expect in Junction.
“Non-stop dancing, affordable drinks and great vibes… Mello Vibes,” he said.
He said based on the feedback, St Elizabeth might become an annual stop for the series.
“That’s the hope, that the welcome will be so great we will be there annually.”
There are also plans to stage the event in other parishes.
“Mello Vibes has patrons from all parishes and our hope is to carry the brand closer to them. Let us do the driving and give them a break,” said Ghartey.
