Williams-Mills powers to 400m victory at Paris Diamond League
KINGSTON , Jamaica — Veteran Novlene Williams-Mills powered to victory in the women’s 400m in 51.03s with Olympic bronze medallist Shericka Jackson third in 51.91s at the Paris Diamond League. Jamaica’s third entrant, Stephanie-Ann McPherson failed to show for the race.
But it was a commanding win from the 35-year-old Williams-Mills, who raced past Jackson early and moved away for a facile victory. American Courtney Okolo closed well for second in 51.19s.
It was a good win for Williams-Mills who was third behind Jackson at the Jamaican Championships last week. She now jumps to the top of the Diamond League points standing with 20 points.
Jackson, who has a season’s best of 50.05s, was picking up her first points, and is now ninth with six points.
