Team M&M confident of copping Double Six domino title
Team M&M re-energised its skills to take first place in the second regional round of the 2017 Nutramix Double Six Domino Tournament at Melbourne Club last Saturday in Kingston.
The tournament saw several teams battling to secure a spot in the grand final.
Comprising Robert Moore and Wesley Chambers, Team M&M is confident of victory at the grand final which is scheduled to take place on September 16 at the Turtle River Park in Ocho Rios.
“Is 30-odd years now I have been playing domino. Is ‘War Zone’ them call me because I am bad at this sport. We lost out last year and this time we are back to claim victory,” Team M&M’s Moore said.
His partner Chambers, too, is bubbling with confidence.
“We didn’t win last year, but now it’s like a walk in the park for us. I’m a regular domino competition player and throughout my life it has been about domino,” Chambers explained.
Team Bull, which comprised Lincoln Watson and Ezekiah Tyrell, finished in second place in the second regional round.
Team M&M won a cash prize of $50,000, 100 baby chicks and 20 bags of animal feed courtesy of Nutramix, while Team Bull won 50 baby chicks and 10 bags of animal feed.
Tina Hamilton, brand manager, Nutramix, was pleased with the day’s proceedings.
“We are very happy with the turnout and the spirit of the farmers who have chosen to be a part of our Double Six Tournament. It is an honour and pleasure for us to be invited into these communities to share with them one of their favourite past times,” she said.
Hamilton continued: “We had an extra treat this week as Delmond Grant, grand prize winner of the tournament in 2016, showed up to lend his support and it really got the teams excited with his stories of investment of his prize money and how it changed his life.”
The tournament seeks to create relationships and give back to farmers, while encouraging potential farmers to get involved in the agricultural industry. It also aims to celebrate the spirit of the domino game, a popular pasttime for Jamaicans far and wide.
The third regional round in the Nutramix Double Six Domino Tournament is scheduled to take place today at the Rudolph Elder Park, Morant Bay, St Thomas.
