1. INDECOM probing shooting of policeman’s daughter

The Independent Commission of Investigation (INDECOM) has launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding a shooting incident involving an off-duty police officer on Saturday along the Bernard Lodge main road in St Catherine, which left a senior cop’s daughter nursing gunshot wounds. 2. Westmoreland prison escapee held in St Ann dragnet

The St Ann’s Bay police this morning recaptured a 29-year-old prisoner, who they say escaped from the Savanna-la-Mar Police Lock-up in Westmoreland on June 19, 2015. Full story here

3. Cayman Airways adds nonstop flights from Cayman to Montego Bay for summer

Starting this summer Cayman Airways will be operating nonstop flights between Grand Cayman and Montego Bay twice-weekly. Full story here

4. JET questions NEPA’s reversal of sand mining ban in Duncan’s Bay

The Jamaica Environment Trust (JET) is calling on the National Environment and Planning Agency (NEPA) to provide clarification on the reasons why a permit was granted for beach sand mining at Duncan’s Bay in Trelawny after one was refused in February last year. Full story here

5. 13-y-o boy missing since May

The police are yet to locate a 13-year-old boy who went missing from the Montego Bay Police Station in May. He is 13-year-old Javarie Senior otherwise called ‘Jay’, of Hendon Norwood in Montego Bay, St James. Full story here

6. Cops seize nearly 8000 rounds of ammo, 449 guns since January

The police, through its communication arm, the Corporate Communications Unit (CCU), is reporting that 449 guns and 7,899 rounds of ammunition have been seized across the island since January 01. Full story here

7. Young Sunshine Girls defeat Malaysia 70-21

The young Sunshine Girls today won their match against Malaysia in the netball Youth World Cup underway in Gaborone, Botswana. The young Girls won 70-21. Full story here

8. Toppling crime not a simplistic venture — Montague

Minister of National Security, Robert Montague, has suggested that putting an end to corrupt acts and the general silence on offences committed in the society could put a dent in the island’s crime problem. Full story here

9. Former manager at Manchester Parish Council facing fraud charges

David Harris, the former secretary manager and director of finance for the Manchester Parish Council, has been charged with breaches of the Forgery and Anti-Corruption Acts. Full story here

10. Venus becomes oldest Wimbledon quarterfinalist in 23 years

Venus Williams became the oldest woman to reach the Wimbledon quarter-finals in 23 years when the 37-year-old beat Ana Konjuh in the fourth round on Monday. Full story here
