Cupid’s arrow was released at Pan Caribbean (now Sagicor) Bank in 2009 and Tanesha Maria McLean, corporate banking officer, and Christopher Churchill Harris, foreign exchange trader, were smitten! Okay, it might not have been love at first sight but eight years later, on Saturday, May 27, the couple exchanged vows at The Worthington, Spanish Court Hotel.

Vows shares their journey to the altar…

“We were co-workers who became close friends and then lovers,” shared Tanesha. The proposal came on Friday, April 29, 2016, at our favourite restaurant South Avenue Grill. Naturally, I said ‘Yes!’

Indeed she did and was soon in consultation with wedding planner Kara Anderson of Petals and Promises.

Here Comes The Bride…

“I wanted an intimate setting so the low lighting during the ceremony was perfect. Candles in tall cylinders placed between rose petals lined the aisles. There was a beautiful, sheer arch at the entrance which reflected well against the lighting making it all very soft and pretty,” Tanesha shared.

The couple also made style statements in designs by local designers. The groom oozed sartorial elegance in Spokes Apparel and the bride dazzled in a drennaLUNA couture gown made with textured fabric created in-house. The entire skirt was made from individually cut and constructed flowers and the form-fitting bodice created with a beaded mesh/lace.

The bridegroom was escorted up the aisle by his beloved daughter Aaliyah Harris while Tanesha, clutching her Petals and Promises bouquet of garden roses and baby’s breath, was escorted to her dashing groom by her mum Jennifer.

Christopher shared with Vows that the bride’s entrance to the strains of the Etta James classic At Last was his most memorable moment. For Tanesha it was signing the marriage certificate as the song Endless Love played in the background making the affair that much more magical. Bishop C Everton Thomas was the wedding officiant and included scripture readings from the groom’s daughter Aaliyah Harris and the bride’s nephew Nicholas Lawrence. a unity ceremony and a single hymn In Your Hands

Happily Ever After…

The reception continued at the Worthington where guests enjoyed hors d’oeuvres and cocktails prior to the arrival of the newly-weds. Master of ceremonies Dwight Ross handled the affair in his inimitable manner, with lots of quips and mega doses of laughter. A sumptuous three-course dinner catered by the Spanish Court Hotel was followed by heartfelt toasts ahead of the cutting of the Deneise Scott spectacular red velvet cupcakes and fruit cake.

The newly-weds opened the dance floor with Breathless by Shayne Ward. Guests, thereafter, joined them on the dance floor where they partied into the night to the sounds of DJ Power.

The newly-weds honeymooned at Secrets Spa & Resort in Montego Bay.
