Westmoreland prison escapee held in St Ann dragnet
ST ANN, Jamaica — The St Ann’s Bay police this morning recaptured a 29-year-old prisoner, who they said escaped from the Savanna-la-Mar Police Lock-up in Westmoreland on June 19, 2015.
The prisoner, Carlington Godfrey otherwise called ‘Tommy’, a labourer of Grange Hill, Westmoreland, was wanted for murder, shooting with intent and illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.
According to the police’s Corporate Communications Unit (CCU), Godfrey was found in the company of a female in Alexandria, St Ann during an early morning operation carried out between 4:30 and seven o’clock. The female was also arrested.
The police are appealing to residents not to give safe haven to criminals, as it is an offence to harbour them.
Anyone with information that can assist the police with their investigations and the recapturing of other escapees can contact the police 119 emergency number, Crime Stop at 311 or the nearest police station.
