KINGSTON, Jamaica – National Security Minister Robert Montague yesterday met with Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) councillors /caretakers, in what the ministry said is “a game-changing meeting to brief them on the National Five Pillar Crime Reduction Strategy and security initiatives.”

The meeting was held at the JLP headquarters on Belmont Road in Kingston and saw Montague, Police Commissioner George Quallo and other senior officers of the Jamaica Constabulary Force making presentations.

Montague told participants: “This government is committed to taking a collaborative approach in combating the crime problem and the councillors have a major role to play at the community level”. He stated that a similar meeting will be convened with councillors and caretakers of the People’s National Party, and any other political group.

Commissioner Quallo welcomed the interaction, noting that “this type of event is important in order for crime to be seriously addressed”.
