Sizzla’s new set for Aug 11
LESS than two months after releasing Fought For Dis, Sizzla is set to drop another album titled I’m Yours on August 11. The project is produced by Jon FX on his FX Music Group label.
“I have done many songs with Sizzla. I’ve been working with him since the days of Caveman Studios in the 1990s while I was in high school and being an in-house engineer. This album is considered a summary of what Sizzla has done and where he has been. Pertaining to sound, it’s amazing to see how he has evolved over the years from the standard one drop all the way to Afrobeat. That’s an amazing thing,” said Jon FX.
The 11-track set features collaborations with Ghanaian artistes Stonebwoy and Mz Vee. Other tracks include Incomplete, Experience, Fair Chance, Model, and My Girl.
Born in St Andrew, Jon FX’s given name is John A Crawford. He has worked with acts such as Shabba Ranks and Akon on Gun Session, I Wayne ( Book of Life) and Gyptian ( I Can Feel Your Pain). He is also known for his reggae remixes of popular artistes including Nicki Minaj, Adele, Carly Rae Jepsen, and Mindless Behavior.
He has produced the tracks Wake Up, Gun Session and Cost Of Living for Sizzla.
The producer explained the uniqueness of the project.
“I received vocals from Sizzla each week and I would get rid of the rhythms and created brand new beats for every single one of them. Every track is tailor-made to the vocals,” he said. “The album is delivering the original Sizzla sound and his newly crafted sound which gave him a new fan base. It’s a combination of both. Getting the African artistes involved was made possible by Alpha Phi Music, which is a subsidiary and partner of FX Music Group.”
Sizzla Kalonji (given name Miguel Collins) is known for his high number of releases. To date he is credited with more than 45 solo albums. They include Rise To The Occasion, Black Woman & Child, and Da Real Thing.
On June 16 he released the 10-track set Fought For Dis (Altafaan Records). The album debuted at number 8 on Billboard‘s Reggae Album Chart a week later.
