BGLC TROPHY: The ‘Buzz’ is here but…
The 13th renewal of the Betting Gaming and Lotteries Trophy (5½ furlongs) has come down to seven starters with most having telling credentials for victory making for a mouth-watering prospect. The BGLC Trophy is set for tomorrow, the ninth race on the Emancipation Day card.
The Complete Racing Guide assesses the chances of the seven runners.
ANOTHER BULLET – Can be listed as one of the most improved horses in training. Another Bullet holds a win over Chace The Great going this same distance and comes into the BGLC Trophy with a shot at the handicaps. Whether or not Another Bullet will be able to manage all of these is another matter. Will continue his development and is given an outside look.
BUZZ NIGHTMARE – Makes his belated first appearance this season. Buzz Nightmare’s talent has never been in doubt but as is usually the case he has had to grapple with injury concerns which have hampered his racing time. He has been exercising well with his last two efforts coming out of the straight. This is a drop-in class for Buzz Nightmare and if he is anywhere near his best then it will not be much of a race as the distance is perfect. Yet there are doubts, so let’s wait and see which Buzz Nightmare turns up.
JESSE’S FAVOURITE – Seems lost in this one.
CHOO CHOO BLUE – This foreigner has made tremendous headway in recent times. Choo Choo Blue is versatile, strong and always competitive. Came to the Open Allowance level on July 19 and lost by a neck to Sir Budget in a hot five straight. Now Choo Choo Blue has a slight advantage which gives her a great chance of pulling off this one. Can stay with the pace and run on which is an added advantage. Choo Choo Blue is on the move but is not there as yet.
SIR BUDGET – Two recent wins have helped to underscore the growth of Sir Budget. This five-year-old can stay with the pace or can set the pace. Holds a win over Choo Choo Blue but is a touch worse off now at the present handicaps. Nevertheless, Sir Budget with the three kilogrammes claim from the apprentice is back on an even keel. Strong, competitive with a never say die approach, Sir Budget will fight out this one with his toughness a compelling factor.
ACTION MAN – Although fast and light cannot see this one winning.
CHACE THE GREAT – Has been running some good races with two wins from his last four starts and has kept company with some of the big ones without given any quarter. Chace The Great right now is on top of his game and is comfortable among these with the possible exception of Buzz Nightmare. Finished half a length behind Campesino on May 27 over this same trip and based on that has a truly outstanding chance of winning.
