Busy adds spin to pop single
AS Good As It Gets , a 2016 single by American singer Daniel Skye, is getting a new lease on life, courtesy of dancehall deejay Busy Signal.
The remix is produced by DJ Karim and released last week.
Busy Signal, who recently secured a US work permit, is known for the hit songs Step Out, Nah Go A Jail Again and Tic Toc. Watch Out For This (Bumaye), his collaboration with Major Lazer, was a big hit in Europe.
Skye is an American singer and songwriter, who is signed to RCA Records.
His original version of Good As It Gets was produced by Charlie Handsome. It has logged over three million plays on Spotify and three million views on YouTube.
Raised in Hollywood, Florida, Skye’s route to popularity in an unusual way. He posted 15-second snippets of covers of popular songs on Instagram, where he has netted 2.5 million followers, rather than initially focusing on YouTube or other sites more commonly identified with music. He released his first original song, Maybe in December 2014. The video has been viewed more than 4.6 million times on YouTube.
His other releases include Love Sick Day, All I Want, We Got Us and Smile.
The video for Smile has amassed over 5.8 million views within six months on YouTube. Tiger Beat magazine nominated the song in the “Most Influential Song” category in the magazine’s “19 Under 19” feature in September 2016.
Skye’s EP Good As It Gets was released earlier this year. It peaked at number 7 on Billboard’s Heatseekers Albums chart.
