SRI comes alive with Jamaica 55
MONTEGO BAY, St James — There was no shortage of vibes at Sandals Resorts International’s headquarters last Friday, as the company celebrated Jamaica’s Independence with an event dubbed ‘Ketch Di Vibe Wid Jamaica 55’.
Just a few days shy of Independence Day, team members were treated to a cultural showcase featuring the exciting Jamaican Village competition, Jamaica 55 fashion show and an array of tasty Jamaican delicacies.
The Jamaican Village competition tasked departments to decorate their respective spaces to recreate the essence of a traditional Jamaican Village.
The Information Systems Department walked away with the winning trophy and bragging rights after wowing the judges with their creative depiction, including their very own ‘Balm Yard’, dancehall queen and ‘Missa Chin’ wholesale. The Revenue (Warehouse) and Human Resources Departments copped second and third place respectively, with their imaginative interpretations of ‘old time’ Jamaica.
Team members were also treated to an afternoon of entertainment featuring a lively mento band, Junkunno, stilt walkers, a steel drum performance, contortionist and competitive renditions of popular Miss Lou poems.
