hurdler Omar McLeod, native of Sanguinetti, northern Clarendon in central Jamaica, was the star performer for Jamaica at the just ended IAAF World Championships in London. McLeod, last year’s Olympic champion in Rio de Janeiro, sped to victory in the 110m hurdles final ,clocking 13.04 seconds to take Jamaica’s only gold medal in London. Ristananna Tracey, a past student of Edwin Allen High in Frankfield, northern Clarendon, was also a star for the central region in individual events, taking bronze in the 400m hurdles.
