UPDATE: Only one ZOSO hotline – JCF insists
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Zone of Special Operations (ZOSO) Communications Centre says that the public and people within the zones should use the officially established customer service hotline — 1-888-225-ZOSO (888-225-9676) — to lodge complains and seek assistance.
The centre said that the 24-hour manned ZOSO hotline is the only official communication channel set up to ensure that members of the security forces operating within the ZOSO are doing so in accordance with the law.
The directive comes after the People’s National Party issued statements that it had a line for people in ZOSO to report any incident of “abuse”.
According to the Jamaica Constabulary Force, (JCF) the ZOSO hotline will be used to safeguard citizen’s rights at all times and ensure that their complaints are addressed immediately.
“It will be used to facilitate and register citizen’s complaints as well as feedback about the actions of the security forces within the ZOSO. It will also provide explanation to persons on their rights and responsibilities within the Zone, and provide timely feedback on current activities within the ZOSO,” the Communications Centre said.
The ZOSO Communication Centre is led by head of the JCF’s Corporate Community Unit, Stephanie Lindsay and Civil Military Cooperation and Media Affairs Officer Major Basil Jarrett of the Jamaica Defence Force.
