Suspect in Dexter Pottinger killing to be charged

Suspect in Dexter Pottinger killing to be charged

Police say man is on bail for murder

A man is to be charged this morning for the murder of fashion designer Dexter “3D” Pottinger, whose decomposing body was found at his St Andrew home last Thursday evening.

Yesterday, the police said several suspects were taken in on Friday for questioning and, after completion of that process, they are now ready to lay charges on one particular individual who they said is currently on bail for murder.

Pottinger’s body was found when a concerned relative went to visit him after being unable to make contact with him for several days. His vehicle — a 2017 Honda CR-V — and a television were missing from the house.

Both were reportedly found shortly after the body of Pottinger was discovered. While on the scene on Thursday evening, relatives and friends of the make-up artist and former model were overheard saying that Pottinger’s two iPhones were also missing from the home.

It was reported that neighbours heard Pottinger crying for help early Wednesday morning but no one alerted the police.

This allegation has sparked outrage, as people were in disbelief that the police were not summoned at the sound of distress.

“Our folks are energised to speak out against the wrongdoings of the police only. Isn’t something wrong when, no matter what time of day or night, every police action has several eyewitnesses who can give a blow by blow account of everything, but no one cares who is shooting a child in her bed, or stabbing a man in his home?”a Jamaica Observer online reader commented, making reference to the murder of Meadowbrook High School student Mickolle Moulton who was shot dead at her home in Arnett Gardens last month.

Pottinger was the point man for many iconic Jamaican corporate brands to outfit their promotional models, and the image resource for international publications and celebrities.

The former Saint International model was set to showcase his latest menswear collection at Fashion Directory, an annual event hosted by Yellow Pages on October 5 at Devon House.
